International Symposium of Ligaments & Tendons – XVII
Hangzhou, China, April 21, 2018
The beautiful morning of April 21st, 2018, marked the start for this year’s International Symposium on Ligaments and Tendons (ISL&T- XVII) hosted by Professor Hongwei Ouyang, Professor Zong-Ming Li and Professor Savio Woo in the historical landmark of Hangzhou, China. The meeting brought together more than 150 scientific leaders from all over the world, creating an environment where researchers come together to collaborate and share exciting research progress and ideas. The conference opened with welcoming remarks from Professor Ouyang, the conference chair and Dr. Savio Woo, ISL&T founder. The program then comprised of a clinical lecture by Dr. Shiyi Chen and two keynote lectures by Dr. Matthew Fisher and Dr. Ramon Cugat. This year’s program featured multidisciplinary topics starting with a clinical lecture on the “Re-recognition of Synthetics Ligament for ACL Reconstruction: Chinese Experience” followed by an interesting insight on the biomechanics of tendons and ligaments, ACL biomechanics, tissue engineering-based repair and regeneration, and rotator cuff repair and healing. The afternoon topics focused on tendons and ligaments regeneration and healing, tendinopathy and tendinosis, and tendon-related stem cell biology.
We would also like to congratulate the award winners: Savio L-Y Woo Young Research Award, Dr. Jiankun Xu, Best Research Fellow Paper Award, Dr. Can Zhang, Best Student Paper Award, Ms. Tian Qin and Best Poster Award, Mr. Tao Wang.
The conference was a great success and we look forward to the next gathering in Phoenix, Arizona in February 2020.
